The ovarian cancer is a form of cancer affecting the ovary. It usually develops from the coating surface of the ovaries. The most common is epithelial carcinoma of the ovary. Rare forms, such as germ cell tumors and ovarian borderline tumors demonstrate a specific management.
The ovarian cancer is generally poor prognosis because often discovered late. The ovary is located in the pelvis and a tumor lesion may develop slowly without clinical symptoms. The treatment relies on surgery as complete as possible in combination with chemotherapy reduces the risk of recurrence. When cancer is advanced, chemotherapy improves quality of life of patients and increases survival time.
